They used to say that a picture was worth a thousand words… later on they said that a picture was worth ten thousand words… I disagree on both counts. In fact I’d go so far as to argue that a picture is worth a hundred thousand words! That being said a hundred thousand words is not easily extracted from even the greatest of pictures (that would be roughly two novels worth!).
For me, writing for Relics is a privilege that I won’t be giving up easily! Its just too cool! Its not always easy but the satisfaction I get from my contributions justifies the countless late nights hunched over the key board. (The Nuem battle suit that Gav instructed me to wear is also quite persuasive…)
When I think back to that fateful day that I first became involved with this project I ask myself the questions- How? And Why? Was it the alignment of the planets and the stars? Was it destiny? Was it some other plot device that I can’t quite find the words for right now? Maybe the truth will never be known but one things certain - it could well be the most perfectly timed e-mail I’ve ever sent.
Anyway back to the point, on that day when I first received the concept material that had been so lovingly crafted by the talented Melvin I was instantly blown away, I found that each image spoke to me instantly and writing the initial stories just seemed to flow so naturally as the characters came to life chattering away in my ear as I wrote (now they don’t shut up).
What I’m really trying to say is the pictures and the models tell the story for me, I just help them along the way, its Gav and Melvin who do all the hard work while I fill in the blanks. For that honour I am eternally grateful.
That’s all I wanted to say for now, I’m off to enjoy my birthday! (lead based presents accepted) I promise to confuse you with more ramblings in the future. Quick, go play Relics, start today!
That’s me Dastardly Dan Dangel done for now.
Laters.
