Rhaksha and I had a game tonight and we came up with a list of questions and other feedback =)
Rhaksha's Army
1 - Eotan Rifan
2 - Docga
3 - Unmann
Total 128
JustCabal's Army
1 - Grenadier
3 - Dragoons
12 - Troopers
Total 129
Rhaksha placed her models in a nice little clump with the Eotan at the back and the Docga infront, I set up two groups of Troopers in lines of three with the Grenadier and a Dragoon in the middle and the remaining two Dragoons on either side.
Rhaksha grabbed Acting Player on turn 1 and promptly moved her forces towards the Britanans, there was a big tree in the middle so i wasnt able to react to any of it.
Turn 2 i managed to be the Acting Player and moved the left Dragoon forwards, Rhaksha responded by running one of her Docga closer, i moved a Trooper on the left flank and she responded by charging my Dragoon with the Docga, i then sent a Dragoon on the right flank straight towards her second Docga and she responded with yet another charge, my Grenadier moved three times to get into a good shooting position, Rhaksha responded by moving an Unmann up near the right Docga who already had an Unmann behind it and my Grenadier spent his fourth token on firing on the two Unmann who had been nice enough to stand close together, the result was a heavy wound on the target Unmann and both of them knocked down (special grenade attack), my last action was to move the third and middle Dragoon up so it could see the heavily wounded Unmann and cause a light wound to kill it.
Turn 3 saw Rhaksha as the Acting Player with some fierce combat that ended with a heavily wounded Dragoon on both the right and left side and a dead Dragoon in the middle.
Turn 4 had me as the Acting Player and some combat killing off the left Dragoon and the Grenadier, the right Dragoon and the right Docga kind of growled at eachother, i moved the Troopers on the left flank up in a semi circle prepairing to recieve the imminent attack of the left Docga, after the left Dragoon bit the dust 4 out of the 12 Troopers failed morale and were shaken, 2 of them cleared it at the clean up section.
Turn 5 had Rhaksha acting once more and she charged the left Docga at the left flank Troopers who responded by closing the circle around the Docga the Troopers then proceeded to stab the Docga repeatedly with their little bayonets resulting in Docga shishkebab!!
Unfortunately we had to end it there as it was getting abit late.
Here are the questions.
1. How big are the deployment zones ?
2. Is it intentional that command 0 models are unable to activate on initiative ?
It feels very harsh that command 0 models are completly unable to do anything unless you (the reactive player) rolled alot of activation tokens, this is very visible for the Britanans atleast with the Trooper model.
3. When figuring out the difference in a combat roll do you include the defence of the defending model and combat of the attacking model or is it based purely on the dice roll ?
4. When you fight a combat with one player having just one model and the other player having multiple models, does the one model get to attack and defend against all of the opposing models or just one of them ?
5. If the single model that is attacked by multiple models only gets to attack one of them, does he get to choose it himself or is it the first one that attacks him ?
6. When multiple models are attacking a single target, do they get a +1 to Dexterity, Combat and Defence or +1 to Dexterity, Combat OR Defence ?
7. When you get to the "push a model that you have attacked after a combat" step of combat resolution, do you have to do it or is it optional ?
What is the purpose of having that mechanic in there ? We are guessing that it might be to stop multiple attackers becoming too powerful but it feels really annoying when your offensive stops because one of your models accidently pushes the target out of base contact with the rest of the group.
8. When a model gets pushed on top of other models so they have to move out of the way, who chooses where they go and in which order ?
Here is the more general feedback!
Personally i love the 2D6 combat system, it just works so much better then 1D6 systems so definetly stick with that. Combat felt abit math heavy at times wich is uncomfortable for someone like me who is really bad at it. The Troopers seem very lacking tho as i cannot imagine a scenario where i would rather have 2 Troopers instead of 1 Dragoon, the Dragoon is just flatout better in every way. A few more profiles would really help with testing. Would some kind of commander that lets you give +1 command for the purposes of acting on the initiative be an idea ?
130 points seemed abit excessive for the Britanan with 10 models more then the Orcnar player, i had too many models that could not do anything most of the game due to not being able to act on the initiative tho, maybe make the Troopers be abit more of a desirable model with a higher points cost. The Black Powder rule was incredibly annoying for me and felt like a big hindrance in my plans, i can never really shoot with a large group of troops so being hindered by the Black Powder seems unnecesary.
I would love to see more rules on the models, a recommended points level would be nice aswel. Around 10 models per side seems like a lovely middle ground so with more desirable rules and higher points cost i personally feel that would benefit the game.
Overall tho both me and Rhaksha enjoyed our first taste of it!!!! =D
